KARACHI, May 19: Five ships carrying containers, chemicals and iron ore were accommodated berths during the last 24 hours, said a PQA press release on Saturday. Meanwhile, two more constrainer ships also arrived at the outer anchorage.

Nine ships, CSAV Ningbo, Xiang Wan, Sima Pars, Addu Star, Tarpon Santiago, Sargodah, Oriental Miho, Sea Sky and Capt. George-L, were busy in loading and unloading containers, wheat, rice, furnace oil, chemicals and Iron ore.

A record cargo volume of 0.105 million tons comprising 0.069 million tons of import and 0.036 million tons of export tonnage was handled.

Sailing was slow as only Sea Sky left the port while Addu Star, Oriental Miho, CSAV Ningbo, Xiang Wan, Sima Pars were due to depart.
