JACOBABAD, May 18: Relatives of Awami Tehrik leader Mohammad Nawaz Kandrani of the Thul taluka, a victim of the May 12 Karachi mayhem, have refused to receive compensation from the government.
Talking to reporters here on Saturday, Deedar Kandrani, a cousin of the deceased, and other family members said those offering compensation were involved in the murder of Mohammad Nawaz. So, there was no question of taking compensation from the murderers, they said.
The victim Nawaz Kandrani has left behind his wife Sakeena Khatoon, sons Yasir and Aitzaz Nawaz, and daughters Zarina and Samreen.
His family members said the children of Nawaz Kandrani were school going and they were not sure if they could continue their education after the murder of their father – the family’s bread earner.
Nawaz Kandrani had started political life from the platform of the Awami Tehrik in 1983 as a member of its central committee. He remained president of the party’s Jacobabad district chapter. He played a vital role in spreading awareness among the people of Thul, a small town in the Kashmore district, and turning it into a hub of political activities.
