GUJRANWALA, May 18: A minor boy, who was kidnapped for ransom, was recovered on Friday while police traced the kidnappers, including the boy’s uncle. DIG Syed Saud Aziz told reporters that Irfan (3), son of Ehsanullah of Gujrat, was playing in a street when the accused, including his uncle, kidnapped him.

He said the accused took the boy to Peshawar from where they rang the heirs and demanded Rs5 million ransom for his release. He said the police collected the record of cell phone calls and traced accused Sajjad alias Soni through prostitute Uzma of Lahore. Later, a police party conducted a raid there and recovered the boy.

The DIG announced cash prizes and commendation certificates for the SP (investigation), the Kharian DSP, the Kakrali SHO and their staff.

GCCI: The Gujranwala Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI) has criticized leaders of the Karachi chamber for describing the just demands of business community (already accepted by the prime minister) as `outrageous’.

Speaking at a meeting on Friday, GCCI president Rana Shahzad Hafeez said that business community was thankful to the prime minister and the ministry of commerce for reaching an agreement with the Federation Pakistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) for amending the Trade Organizations Ordinance 2006 and relevant rules.

He said that reduction in the license renewal fee from Rs300,000 to Rs30,000 was a big relief to small chambers.
