‘Merit list for police posts changed’

By Our Correspondent

BANNU, May 18: Local leaders of the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal have threatened to take legal action if the provincial and district governments do not withdraw changes made to the merit list for the recruitment of 249 policemen.

Speaking at a press conference at the Bannu Press Club on Friday, district MMA amir Maulvi Tameezuddin and other leaders alleged that the merit list had been changed at the behest of the district government.

They said candidates selected on merit had been deprived of their right and they would wage a legal and political struggle if the original list was not restored by Tuesday.

They demanded that the NWFP chief minister, chief secretary and police authorities should take notice of irregularities in the recruitment.
