AMMAN, May 18: Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz said here on Friday that present assemblies would complete their term and a caretaker government would be formed to ensure fair, free and impartial elections.
Talking to Jordanian media representatives and opinion leaders, the prime minister said that certain amendments had been made in the constitution for setting up a caretaker government to hold the polls.
He said the caretaker government would ensure that no one took advantage and every party was free to participate in the election process without favouritism.
About Pakistan’s relations with Jordan, the prime minister said that both countries had very close, brotherly and friendly relations which were growing with the passage of time.
He said he would be meeting the Jordanian leadership and some agreements would be signed to further enhance bilateral relations.
The two countries, he said, had close links in all the fields and they were partners in the G-11 which was formed by Jordan to share experiences of best practices within the group.
He expressed the hope that the G-11 would provide a platform for the member states to cooperate in different fields for development and prosperity.
ARRIVAL: Earlier, on his arrival in Amman, the prime minister was received by Prime Minister of Jordan Dr Marouf Al-Bakhit at the Queen Alia airport, and a contingent of royal forces presented him guard of honour.
The prime minister is accompanied by Minister for Food and Agriculture
Sikandar Hayat Bosan, Minister for Inter-Provincial Coordination Salim Saifullah, Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Tariq Azeem, Minister of State for Economic Affairs Hina Rabbani Khar and a delegation of businessmen.
