Student shot dead; woman, daughter killed

By Our Staff Reporter

RAWALPINDI, May 18: A teenager was allegedly shot dead by two fellow students outside their school building in Westridge on Friday. Police said Abdul Raheem, seventeen-and-a-half years old son of Nadeem Ahmed, a sub-inspector at Airport Security Force (ASF), was allegedly shot dead by two fellow students at a deserted place near the school.

The police identified the alleged killers as Ammar, son of an army officer serving with an intelligence agency, and Osama Iqbal, son of a businessman.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Operation Wing Yasin Farooq told Dawn that the victim was a class 10 student at Army Public School and College. The attackers, who were friends of the victim, managed to escape.

“The motive behind the murder is yet to be investigated as both the attackers were close friends of the victim,” SSP Yasin Farooq said.

The principal of the school told Dawn that he was informed at about 12:10pm that a student had been shot dead. However he gave no further details.

“The victim was a student of my school. However, I don’t know who the killers were,” the principal said.

The body of the victim has been shifted to District Headquarters Hospital for autopsy.

Meanwhile, a woman and her three-and-a-half years old daughter were shot dead and her husband was injured by two armed robbers who entered their house on Friday in the jurisdiction of Waris Khan police.

Sadaf Bibi and her daughter Amber died on the spot while her husband Sharjeel was injured. He was shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital.

Sharjeel lodged a complaint with Waris Khan police in which he stated that he and his family were asleep when there was a knock on the door. When he opened the door, he found two strangers standing there.

The two armed men forcibly entered the house and threatened to kill them if they did not hand over cash and valuables.

The injured man said first the robbers shot dead his wife Sadaf and then his daughter. They also shot and injured Sharjeel when he tried to rescue his daughter.

Inspector Irshad, who is leading the investigation into the double murder case, told Dawn that it was yet to be investigated what the robbers had stolen.
