KARACHI: NTI backs transport strike call

KARACHI, May 18: The National Transport Ittehad, Karachi, on Friday expressed its support to the three-day strike call given by the Pakhtun Action Committee for May 25- 27.

President of the NTI, Karachi, Salim Khan Bangash chaired a meeting of various transporters associations here on Friday which decided to join in the strike. It condemned the killing of innocent people and torching of transporters’ vehicles on May 12, and noted that buses, mini-buses, coaches, trucks, trailers and taxis had been taken away at gunpoint by terrorists a day before the tragedy happened on city roads.

The meeting also condemned killing and torture of drivers, cleaners and other employees of transporters in the presence of the law-enforcement agencies personnel, who did not intervene.
