GUJRANWALA, May 17: Three agents of Sibtul Hasan Shah alias Double Shah were taken into custody by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) for investigating about their assets and public money on Thursday.
A NAB prosecutor appeared in the anti-terrorism court No 2 and sought custody of the agents of Double Shah who were arrested by police and later sent on judicial remand. The court accepted his plea and ordered to shift them to Lahore.
Accused Shahid, Imtiaz and Ibrar will be produced in the NAB court in Lahore for their physical remand.
Double Shah is already in NAB custody in Lahore.
ENCOUNTER: An alleged dacoit was killed in an exchange of fire with villagers in Atawa on Thursday.
Saifullah Goraya told police that four outlaws sneaked into his house after midnight. They held the family at gunpoint, collected valuables and escaped.
He said he followed them with the help of neighbours and opened fire on them. The dacoits retaliated and one of them was killed in the exchange of fire.
Police have removed the body of the dacoit to the DHQ hospital who has not yet been identified.
BURIED: The bodies of three people, including a newly wed couple, who drowned in the River Ponch, Azad Kashmir three days ago, were buried here on Thursday.
Sardar Shabbir of Faisalabad contracted marriage with Eisha, daughter of Sardar Khalid Pasha of Kashmir Town, two weeks ago. The couple went to Kotli to meet their relatives and celebrate honeymoon. Shabbir’s sister, Shabina, accompanied them.
They were walking on the river bank when Shabina slipped and fell into it. The couple jumped into the river to save her but all the three drowned.
TRANSFER: Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) passport cell assistant director Aqeel Qureshi has been transferred to Lahore passport cell while Wagah passport cell assistant director Arif Bukhari was deputed in his place.
According to a notification issued on Thursday, staff officer Ali Akbar has been transferred to Lahore while Azim Abbas posted in Gujranwala.
Readers Abdul Karim and Maqsood Dar were transferred to Faisalabad.
CRIMINALS ARRESTED: The district police claimed on Thursday to have arrested 47 members of nine gangs of inter-district dacoits and recovered a huge quantity of illicit arms and looted goods from their possession.
This was stated by DIG (operation) Khadim Husain Bhatti at a briefing.
