Indian BSF, Pakistan Rangers hold meeting

LAHORE, May 17: The quarterly coordination meeting between delegations of Pakistan Rangers and India’s Border Security Force was held at JCP Wagah (Pakistan side) here on Thursday.

Pakistani delegation was led by Brig M. Qaiser Khan Tareen, Deputy Director-General, Pakistan Rangers (Punjab) while the Indian side was headed by DIG of the BSF, India, Shri A.K. Jain.

Officials said the meeting was part of a mutually-agreed programme aimed at measures being taken by the guarding forces of the two countries for the management of border duties.

Talking to journalists from the two countries, Brig M. Qaiser Khan Tareen said that the status of the border should remain the same and no further construction must be undertaken. Other issues like drug trafficking, repatriation of inadvertent crossers and coordinated patrolling along international border also came under discussion.—APP
