TOBA TEK SINGH, May 17: An industrialist and his friend were shot dead by robbers on the Toba-Gojra road on Thursday evening. Mian Arshad who owns six flour mills in different parts of the district left his car in the town and boarded a Faisalabad-bound coach along with his friend from Faisalabad, Sheikh Saqib.

Also on board the AC bus were six dacoits who took seats as passengers from Toba. As the bus left the town, they whipped out their weapons and looted each and every passenger. The continued their operation up to the Nurpur railway station.

Before alighting, they shot Mian Arshad and his companion without any provocation or resistance. The police and family of the deceased were clueless whether it was a dacoity-cum-murder or target killing.

The family was also not aware of the size of the cash Mian Arshad had with him.

HEALTH MINISTER: Punjab Health Minister Chaudhry Iqbal Gujjar has said all vacant posts of specialists in DHQ hospitals will be filled soon.

Addressing the inauguration ceremony of newly-constructed cardiology ward in the DHQ hospital on Thursday, he stated that 80 per cent vacant posts of medical officers had already been filled in rural areas while the remaining appointments would be made in near future.

DCO Nawazish Ali said that Toba was not in those 20 districts which had been selected for free treatment of hepatitis patients. He urged the minister to include Toba in the list as hundreds of poor and needy patients were unable to get costly treatment.
