KARACHI: Three-day strike call from 25th

KARACHI, May 16: The Pakhtun Action Committee (Loya Jirga) on Wednesday gave a three-day strike call to protest against the May 12 incidents, demanding immediate removal of Sindh Governor Ishratul Ibad and Home Adviser Waseem Akhtar.

Addressing a press conference at his residence, Loya Jirga Chairman Shahi Syed said a 72-hour-long ultimatum given by the Jirga expired on Wednesday evening. He said the Jirga during its two sessions had reached some important decisions.

Saying that the entire nation was shocked over the killings in Karachi, he announced that a complete peaceful strike titled ‘Key in my pocket’ would be observed on May 25, 26 and 27.

About the decision taken by the Jirga, Mr Syed said all members of the action committee would start visiting the families of the deceased and injured from Thursday.

He urged the families of the dead and injured not to accept any compensation announced by the government and announced that the Jirga itself would provide Rs100,000 to the heirs of each victim and Rs25,000 for each injured person.—Staff Reporter
