LAHORE, May 15: Three-year-old colt Royal Luck who registered a win last Sunday looks favourite to repeat his performance when Lahore Gymkhana Midweek Day/Night races take place on Wednesday.

The colt from Royal Story out-of-Lucky Bulbul is in good form to capture the fifth race of the day, Arifwala Plate Class-V Division-I, which will be contested over 900 metres.

There are six competitors for the title barring last-minute withdrawal. Royal Luck’s close rivals could be bay mare Eid and gelding Philosopher.

Lahore Race Club stewards have reduced the distance of races due to hot weather. Three races will be contested over 800 metres while the remaining two over 900 metres.

Unlucky filly Tan Man Dhan who was disqualified after winning the races on two occasions is once again on the course to try her luck in the fourth race of the day.

The daughter of Cry For The Clown out-of Tweety is trained by Haji Fazal Hadi. Apparently she has no strong rival to challenge her authority. However, filly Ferrari and gelding Sher-e-Lahore will try to create impediments in her way to victory.

Six-year-old gelding Super Master who stunned race-goers by winning a race last week looks favourite to win the third race, Pattoki Plate Class-VII Division-I.

He is pitched against colt Ikon, who was beaten thrice on consecutive outings.

There are ten runners in the second race which will be contested over 800 metres. Four of them come into reckoning. They are Tosca, Shah Pari, Leader's King and Blu's Wendy. The distance suits the first three.

The first race has a big field of 14 runners. Most of them are not well-known. On recent form, Booster, Lucky Star and Naseeb Apna Apna look good in the same order.

The race will start at 5:30pm.
