Stormy Kiss set to make amends today

By Anwar Zuberi

KARACHI, May 15: Four-year-old dark bay filly Stormy Kiss who has failed to appear on the board in the last five runs has bright chances to land the feature event in the Gymkhana race meeting at Karachi Racecourse on Wednesday.

However, she has to bring about her best in overcoming a field of seven contenders who are left in fray after acceptance following withdrawl of five fancied horses.

The Haji Khuda Bux Rajar’s filly partnered by M. Nasir was among those who also ran in the last weekend meeting as favourite Phapha Kutni obliged punters.

She looks certain to make amends by crossing the finishing post ahead of Sweet Smile and Arab Hi Arab.

The races were rescheduled for Wednesday following violence that erupted in the city on weekend.

Birj-ul-Arab who lost to Sharp Cat in a nail-biting finish in last appearance should atone to the loss by picking up the supporting event.

He is likely to be chased by Red Rufus and Thanks Naeem for the places.

Having won two races on trot under riders Arshad and Nasir, five-year-old bay Baap Re Baap is fancied to stretch his winning streak by claiming top division of class VII. He should be opposed by Princess Rozi and Trust Again.

Four-year-old dark bay filly Janu Love Inshu is tipped to put up another bold show by making it two-in-a-row in the second race.

Khyber and Sonia are the two form horses who could pose serious challenge to her. Silver City, if tried, can bring an element of surprise.

With three successive second places under his belt three-year-old bay colt Check Mate is our fancy to pick up spoils in the third race. His likely challengers are Make Millions and The Choice Of The Day. Horse to be watched is Lucky Gem.

Six-year-old bay Charlie who settled for second place in last outing should make amends by overcoming rivals in the next race.
