GUJRANWALA, May 15: A trader and his two minor sons who had been kidnapped for ransom by four armed men in Satellite Town about two days ago, were sold in tribal area, it was learnt here on Tuesday.

A source said trader Khalil Ahmad of Model Town was returning from Satellite Town along with his sons Saud, 7, and Hamad, 5, by a car when the unidentified men kidnapped them and later demanded a ransom of Rs8 million for their release.

Later the accused took them to tribal area and sold them after receiving heavy amount.

The source said the heirs had contacted tribal people and struck a deal for their release. He said the trader and his sons would reach the city by early Wednesday morning.

Teachers: Over 900 school teachers have declined to conduct class-V and middle standard annual examination 2007 starting from May 18, it is learnt here.

They have demanded of the Punjab government to make payment of the teaching allowance first.

Reports said the education department had called teachers on Tuesday at Government Jamia High School, Model Town, to deliver them their duty orders. But, all teachers refused to receive the same and demanded payment of teaching allowance.

They also demanded old pattern exam system.

They threatened to lock the 300 examination centres throughout the district if their demands were not met.

The teachers announced that they would take out a rally on The Mall, Lahore from Masjid Shuhada to the Governor’s House on Wednesday (today).

Earlier, the education department had postponed the exams till May 25 and invited the leadership of teachers in Lahore for negotiation.

EXECUTED: Two convicts in a gang-rape case were executed at the jail here on Tuesday while bodies were handed over to their heirs.

According to the prosecution, Zulfikar and Arif of Model Town had raped `K’ some two years ago. They were tried under Hudood laws and handed down death sentence.

The LHC and the SC upheld the decision of the lower court while the president rejected their clemency appeals.

TAX REFUND: Income tax commissioner Ather Javed has said that refund claims of business community have been paid while the pending cases would be cleared after verification.

Speaking at Gujranwala Chamber of Commerce and Industry here on Tuesday, he urged the business community to play its role in the development of the country by paying taxes.
