ISLAMABAD, May 15: The Central Board of Revenue (CBR) has extended the last date for filing sales tax and federal excise returns to May 17 from May 15.

This permission applies to all registered persons falling within the jurisdiction of Large Taxpayers Unit (LTU), Karachi; Sales Tax House (STH), Karachi and Collectorate of Sales Tax and Federal Excise, Hyderabad according to a notification issued here on Tuesday.

The taxpayers may file their summary of sales and purchases as prescribed under notification SRO559 of 2006 by the extended date for the tax period April 2007.

The extension would facilitate taxpayers in Karachi who could not file their returns owing to violence in the city. — Our Reporter
