TOBA TEK SINGH, May 14: An alleged proclaimed offender was killed in an encounter with Gojra Saddar police near Chak 351 JB Kalyan Daas on Monday afternoon. A police team chased two robbers who were fleeing after committing a robbery and intercepted them near the village. The criminals reportedly took refuge in fields and started firing on the police. After a two-hour exchange of fire, one of the robbers, later identified as Sultan alias Gholli, a resident of Chak 413 JB Karnailwala, was killed while his accomplice managed to escape.
A police official said the Sultan was wanted by Toba, Faisalabad and Jhang police in more than 40 cases.
