DADU: Protest continues over shifting of taluka offices

DADU, May 14: More than 300 people including workers of social welfare organisations staged a rally in Manjhand as part of the townspeople’s continued protest on the 39th consecutive day on Monday against shifting of taluka headquarters to Sann.
Taluka Bachayo Action Committee Chairman Mohammad Saleh Memon alleged that the Sindh government’s decision to shift taluka headquarters from Manjhand to Sann was aimed at appeasing Syed Jalal Mehmood Shah. The town people would continue their protest till the government reversed its decision.
He said that the committee had invited all the heads of villages and leaders of political parties to meet on Thursday to chalk out a future course of action in this regard.
Later, the protesters observed a token hunger strike.
PML-Q leader Pir Mujeeb visited the hunger strikers’ camp and assured protestors that he would help settle the issue but the protesters refused to call off their strike and said they would continue protest until the notification on shifting of taluka headquarter was not withdrawn.
RALLY: Residents of Akro Sharif town of Jamshoro staged a rally on Monday against police for patronising gambling dens and anti social elements in their town.
Akro Sharif union council nazim Malik Shafqat charged that gambling dens and anti social activities were being run under the patronage of police and demanded that the government should take action.
