UBAURO, May 14: Enraged people ransacked office of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement in Obauro and Mureed Shakh towns during a complete strike on the call given by the ARD and other parties in the opposition in protest against killings in Karachi.

The major business centres and markets remained closed while the public and private transport remained off the roads. A large number of law enforcers were deployed at major roads and roundabouts to avert any mishap.

A big protest rally was brought out in the town. The protestors, carrying banners, placards and party flags, chanted slogans against government and MQM and tried to attack sector and unit office of MQM but the administration intervened and restricted them to do so.

The leaders charged that the MQM was killing innocent people in Karachi while the police had been deployed outside units and sector offices of MQM as watchmen.

The participants of a rally in Mureed Shakh set an MQM office on fire. The protesters said that the MQM was hatching a conspiracy to separate Karachi from Sindh but the people would foil the conspiracies.
