LAHORE, May 13: Heavily backed dark-bay colt Nomi The Hunter proved a good money hunter for owner Junaid Rashid Rana when he won the Sahiwal Plate, Class VII division I run over 900m during the day/night Lahore Summer Meeting at the Racecourse on Sunday.

Backed from 25 to 100, this colt from Rambo Touch out-of-Cat Winslet, Nomi The Hunter, was the best performer of the day under jockey Shahid Rehman. He beat Princess Afaq by four lengths easily, clocking a fast timing of 56 4/5 secs on the dust track.Another impressive winner of the day was the bay filly Poly Cat, who justified her star breeding winning the fourth race.

Shoaib Tariq owned filly from Polinesso out-of-Huckitta, Poly Cat beat stable-mate, Great Memories, by a big margin of eight lengths in a race run at slow pace, clocking one min 11 1/5 secs over 1100m.

Fancied colt, Harry Can Run rallied from behind in the last 100 yards to win the supporting and fifth event ran over 1300m. He beat Moj Mayla by one and a half lengths. Cross Ruff finished third another four lengths behind.

The bay colt Royal Luck caused a surprise when beating odds-on favourite filly, Miss Play in the third race. Janu finished third while Safe And Sound completed the frame among 14 runners. Ridden by jockey Shahid Rehman Miss Play was confidently backed at 30 to 100 favourite.

In the feature event, three contestants, namely Noor, Lovely Gate and Kiss Of Luck were equally backed from the total six runners. However, the race was won Kiss Of Luck, who beat Noor by a big margin of distance. Kiss Of Luck ran disappointingly fourth on her last outing on May 6. On Sunday she ran like a champion filly.Jockey Shahid Rehman and the apprentice rider Shah Nawaz shared day's riding honours bringing home a brace of winners each. Shahid rode Nomy The Hunter and Harry Can Run while Shah Nawaz partnered Munsaf and Royal Luck. Trainer Rashid Latif excelled among trainers. He sent out three winners-Royal Luck, Harry Can Run and Kiss Of Luck.

Four favourites obliged the punters in a card of six events. The favourites to win were: Munsaf, Nomy The Hunter, Poly Cat and Harry Can Run. The other races were bagged by long shots.
