Mumtaz urges rulers to resign

By Our Correspondent

LARKANA, May 13: The Sindh National Front (SNF) Chairman Mumtaz Ali Bhutto on Sunday held the government and the Muttahida Qaumi Movement responsible for Karachi killings and urged them to quit and hold general elections in a transparent manner under a caretaker government.

Mr Bhutto said in a statement to the press that time and again he had been pointing towards the rulers’ tall claims of fighting against terrorism.

Personnel of Rangers and police stood by and watched as silent spectators while innocent people were being maimed and riddled with bullet, he said.

He said that the government looked unsettled and uprooted by the massive receptions being accorded to the chief justice in the Punjab and called the Muttahida Qaumi Movement’s rally in Karachi unjustified.

He advised the rulers to resign and hand over power to the elected people by holding general elections under a caretaker setup, otherwise he warned the Karachi incident could flare up resentment in the entire country.

He asked party workers to participate in all the protests being held to condemn the bloodshed and violence in Karachi.
