NEW YORK, May 12: Religious scholars and intellectuals at a conference here stressed the need for promoting constructive dialogue that can help bridge the gulf between people of various religions and nations.At the conference organised by Pakistan, Israel, Romania, San Marino, Sri Lanka and the Holy See, the speakers observed that all religions gave a similar message of hope, peace and mutual co-existence. They underscored the need for overcoming the mistrust of the ‘other’.
Besides diplomats and special envoys, United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon and General Assembly President Sheikha Haya Rashed Al Khalifa attended the conference.
