Landlord’s son kidnapped

OKARA, May 11: Six people, including a woman, kidnapped the only son of a landlord for ransom in Super Azeem Market here on Friday.

Reports said that accused Ghulam Rasool, Rustam Ali and Khadim Ali planned to kidnap Muhammad Omar, the owner of 40 acres of agriculture land, with the help of PCO owner Shagufta Bibi.

In the meantime, the woman developed friendly relationship with Omar. On Friday, she arrived in a car and asked Omar to accompany her. As she reached near the Okara bypass, her accomplices Rustam Ali, Khadim Ali, Ghulam Rasool and two others overpowered Omar and took him to Gujranwala. From there, outlaws contacted the mother and maternal uncle of Omar and demanded Rs2.5 million ransom for his release.

The matter was finally settled for Rs1 million. The family members rushed to Gujranwala and got released Omar after paying the ransom amount to kidnappers.

Okara Saddar police have registered a case against six accused on the report of Omar.

GIRL ABDUCTED: Four dacoits looted Rs100,000 in cash, jewellery worth Rs400,000 and also abducted a young girl from a house in Shams Town here on Thursday night.

Reports said that Ashraf and his family members were asleep when armed dacoits Imran, Ali, Iqbal and Mohsin entered the house and held the inmates hostage. Intruders later collected cash and ornaments and fled after abducting student Shaheen.

B-Division police have registered a case against the four accused.

LAWYER BEATEN: Two policemen thrashed a lawyer in judicial lock up on Friday.

Advocate Rana Raza Mohyuddin went to the lock-up to meet his jailed client but policemen did not allow him to do so. They exchanged harsh words and the policemen attacked him and injured him.

The injured man had got a medicolegal certificate from the DHQ Hospital and has filed an application for registration of a case.
