Attack on Malik’s house condemned

By Our Special Correspondent

LONDON, May 11: The UK Lawyers’ Committee for Human Rights in Pakistan have condemned the attack on the home of the president of the Supreme Court Bar Association.

In a joint statement signed by Sibghat Kadri, chairman of the committee, Michael Cogan, secretary, and other members said: “We continue to be concerned with the actions of the government of Pakistan against the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court and the Pakistani Bar.”

It criticised the sealing of the office of the SCBA president, Mr Munir Malik, and attack on his home.

“We are convinced of a link between these events and the planned visit of the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court to Karachi at the weekend.”
