SARGODHA, May 10: As all roads will lead to Islamabad tomorrow, the ruling party representatives and ministers on Thursday left no stone unturned to achieve the targets of arranging public transport vehicles set for them by the government.

The bosses had asked each MNA and MPA to bring 50 people from every district to the venue for the public rally. Nazims, too, have been given targets and promised incentives.

The commuters faced a great deal of inconvenience as the police and the Regional Transport Authority secretary, under the supervision of the DDO (revenue), impounded a large number of buses and mini-buses to ensure transportation of people to the rally.

It is learnt that the tehsil administrations will bear the expenses and the district government, too, has been asked to share the expenditure estimated to touch millions of rupees. For this purpose the contractors involved in various development schemes have been asked to cooperate.

A caravan of 400 buses is expected to proceed to the venue for the public meeting and the participants have been assured of provision of meals twice a day.

Tehsil Nazim Malik Shoaib Awan claimed that a caravan of at least 5,000 people would proceed towards Islamabad from Sargodha while other tehsils, except Shahpur, claimed that 50 buses would take off from each place.

The PML youth wing also claims that thousands of youngsters will participate in the rally under the leadership of PML District President Chaudhry Amir Sultan Cheema. The participants demanded airconditioned vehicles and fast food packages.

Patwaris have been given the similar task and asked to withhold attestation of mutations and issuance of copy of record of rights. Some of them have been asked to wear black coats.

As the education high-ups were given the task of ensuring participation of all the teachers in the district, most of the female teachers applied for leave and many others decided to resist the move.

Various teacher leaders, who proceeded to join protest of Punjab teachers in Lahore, told this correspondent by phone that the community would not obey the orders of the administration and was ready to face the consequences. Thousands of teachers from all over the province would stage sit-in in front of parliament and the President House on May 23 in support of their demands.

The official wagons also have been impounded and the students of paramedical and other technical institutes have been directed to attend the rally along with their respective teachers.

Meanwhile, the DBA gave a strike call for Friday against the transfer of wife of Advocate Mehr Muhammad Hayat in an attempt to victimise her to stop her husband from participating in the protest rallies of lawyers. She is DDO in the education department.
