RAHIM YAR KHAN, May 9: Two people were killed and five injured when a speeding trailer collided with a car on the National Highway near Fatahpur Punjabian, 18 kilometres from here, on Wednesday.

Maj Imran of Rangers, his mother Razia, wife Yasmin, 37, and four children Maham, Aleeba, Aaban and Hasan were going to Chishtian by a car when the trailer (TLA-240) coming from Lahore hit the car. Maj Imran and his mother Razia died on the spot while his wife, daughters Maham, 3, and Aleeba, 8, sons Aaban, 4, and Hasan, 10, suffered injuries.

They were taken to Sheikh Zayed Hospital and discharged after first aid treatment. They were sent to Quetta with the bodies.

The trailer driver fled from the scene.

The residents of nearby village said the accident occurred due to the negligence of National Highway and Motorway Police.

They said there were no signboards for diversion or speed reduction at this dangerous turn.
