Lashkar men destroy opponent’s house

By Ibrahim Shinwari

LANDI KOTAL (Khyber Agency), May 9: Supporters of Lashkar-i-Islam on Wednesday looted and demolished the house of one of their opponents in the Arjali Nadi area of Bara.

Jahanzeb, the spokesman for the Lashkar, alleged that Abid Qayyumkhel was a close aide of Said Wali, an outlaw, and was involved in a number of criminal cases. He said that Abid was served a notice to clarify his position but he did not appear before the Lashkar. That was why his house was demolished.

Talking to newsmen, Abid refuted the allegations and said he was punished for his affiliation with Ansaarul Islam. He alleged that the Lashkar supporters looted his house before demolishing it. He also slammed the local administration for its failure to provide security to him and to other Ansaar supporters.

Meanwhile, the Akkakhel tribe has announced its full support to Ansaar ul Islam. The Akkakhel elders in a jirga pledged to flush out laws and criminals from their area and also support Ansaar ul Islam against its rival group Lashkar-i-Islam.
