KARACHI, May 9: The present state of affairs and the measures taken to control crimes and improve the law and order situation were reviewed at a high level meeting held at Governor House here on Wednesday.

Besides Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad Khan and Chief Minister Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim, the meeting was also attended by Provincial Minister Adil Siddiqi, Advisor Home Affairs Waseem Akhtar, Chief Secretary Shakil Durrani, DG Rangers Maj-Gen Javed Zia, City Nazim Mustafa Kamal, Additional IGP Niaz Siddiqi and other senior officials.

Taking stock of the power crisis, they laid stress on taking steps to reduce load-shedding by seeking cooperation of the people.

A directive was issued for keeping a strict vigil on vested interests who wanted to create a law and order situation using the power crisis as an excuse.

Reviewing the situation, the governor and the chief minister directed the authorities concerned to take all possible measures to maintain the flow of daily life, economic activities and peaceful environment.

They said that no impediment in this regard would be tolerated.

They said the factors threatening the life and property of the people and disturbing peaceful conditions should be thwarted with public cooperation.

They pointed out that it is the government’s basic responsibility to provide protection to the life and property of the people and to ensure peace.

Reviewing the impact of different measures to curb crimes, the authorities concerned were directed to carry out their actions without any pressure and discrimination.—APP
