Protest in Sost against corruption

By Our Correspondent

HUNZA, May 8: A large number of people of Hunza held a demonstration in Sost on the Pakistan-China border in protest against what they called financial corruption, mismanagement and ‘occupation’ of the Sost Dry Port by the deputy chief executive of Northern Areas, Mir Ghazanfar, and his family members.

Speakers called upon the government to hold election of the Dry Port Trust.

They accused the family members of the former rulers of Hunza of damaging time-tested friendship and border trade between Pakistan and China.

They gave a 10-day ultimatum to the government to give rights to the port’s trustees and land owners; otherwise, they would not be responsible for any consequences.
