Champion horse dies in Lahore

LAHORE, May 8: Five-year-old champion bay horse, Thrill, who won the double crown of Pakistan Derby 2005 and Pakistan St. Leger died of renal failure at the Racecourse on Monday.

A son of Baker's gate out-of Poly Game, Thrill, during his short career thrilled hearts of many fans winning five races including a hat-trick of victories. After winning the Derby in March 2005, Thrill suffered a mild colic attack but survived. After a couple of months, he was put to training once again to land Pakistan St. Leger in December 2005, a feat rarely performed by any Pakistani horse.—Aftab Gilani
