Nazim’s office ransacked by naib

GUJRANWALA, May 8: A UC naib nazim along with his armed men attacked his nazim’s office on Jinnah Road and took away all the record, besides ransacking the furniture over some political row here on Tuesday.

Reports said naib nazim Umer Farooq Butt of the ruling PML had a political rivalry with nazim Rana Maqsood Ahmad of PML-N.

On Tuesday, the nazim was present at his office at union council No.42/6 along with his secretary and other staff when Farooq But and his supporters came there. They broke the main gate of the office, held the nazim and his staff hostage, ransacked the furniture and took away the union council’s record.

FIRE: About six workers sustained burn injuries as a fire broke out at a juice factory here on Tuesday near Aimanabad on GT Road.

Reports said the fire erupted owing to a short circuit which engulfed its godown and machinery. The factory workers and people of the area extinguished the fire after three hours with the help of fire brigade.

The factory management said almost all packets of juice, chemical flavour, machinery and packing material worth Rs30 million were reduced to ashes. About six workers sustained burn injuries who were rushed to DHQ hospital.

JUDICIAL REMAND: The local anti-terrorism court No.2 on Tuesday sent two agents of accused Sibtul Hassan Shah alias Double Shah to jail on a four-day judicial remand.

Reports said Imtiaz and Ibrar were arrested by Wazirabad Saddar police some 20 days ago. The court adjourned the case till May 12 and ordered the police to produce Double Shah on next hearing.

RELEASED: About 25 activists of different political parties who were arrested by police before the reception of the Chief Justice of Pakistan two days ago, were released on Tuesday.
