KARACHI, May 8: Two bandits involved in committing robberies in posh areas of the city were arrested in a raid in Defence Phase-I, said Anti-Dacoity, Robbery Cell (ADRC) police on Tuesday.

On a tip-off, an ADRC police party comprising ASI Peter John and ASI Mumtaz Magsi conducted a raid at Defence Phase-I Market and arrested the ringleader of an inter-provincial gang of dacoits Mohammad Gul Khan and his accomplice Muhammad Khalid. Two other gang members, identified as Sohail alias Foji and Rizwan fled, police said.

Both the accused had robbed a house of Muhammad Munawar Ehsan in Defence after holding family members hostage on April 7. Police said the accused used to rob bungalows at gunpoint in posh localities and snatch purses from ladies.—PPI
