KARACHI: Encroachers in Lines Area warned

KARACHI, May 8: Acting Nazim of Jamshed Town Khalid Mustafa Khan on Tuesday directed anti-encroachment department to issue notices to the compressor dealers in Lines Area to voluntarily remove encroachments.

“If they do not abide by laws, illegal encroachments must be removed from footpaths and other mandatory open spaces by the department,” he directed during his visit to various areas of UC-8 and UC-9.

Khalid Mustafa said illegal encroachments in Sector 1-A should be removed immediately. He asked sanitation department officials to employ full potential for shifting garbage to improve sanitation condition in the town. To ensure collection of garbage from narrow streets, he said mini-trolleys should be provided to the department.

Taking stern notice of complaints regarding burning of filth in Tora-Bora dumping yard, the acting nazim instructed officials concerned to take action against those responsible.

He undertook a visit to different sectors of Lines Area and inquired from people about their problems and provision of civic facilities.

Meanwhile, Gulshan-i-Iqbal Town Nazim Muhammad Wasay Jalil on Tuesday conducted a detailed visit of the town and directed the authorities concerned to speed up anti-encroachment campaign at University Road and Daulat Ram Road so that development project could be completed within the stipulated time.

He said town administration had warned rickshaw and truck drivers not to park their vehicles along road but they did not comply with the orders causing disturbance in uplift work.

Wasay Jalil directed traffic police and concerned SHO to deploy staff to re-emergence of encroachments.—PPI
