Indian fighter jet crashes

NEW DELHI, May 8: An Indian air force MiG-29 fighter plane crashed on Tuesday in northern India but its pilot bailed out safely, an air force spokesman said.

The air force office said the plane crashed shortly after taking off from a military air base in Punjab state. “The pilot managed to bail out safely. The plane was on a routine flying mission,” Sqaudrn Leader said.—AFP
