Boxers to compete in Istanbul

KARACHI, May 7: A seven-member Pakistan squad is due to leave for Istanbul, Turkey, on Monday night to take part in the Ahmed Comert International boxing championship which will run from May 8 to 13.

The squad comprises three boxers – Asghar Ali Shah (lightweight), Nisar Sona (light flyweight) and Abid Ali (bantamweight) – and four officials – Julian Gonzalez (coach), Younus Pathan (referee/judge), S.M. Akbar (doctor) and Abid Hussain (manager).

Around 175 boxers from across the globe are taking part in the competition.—PPI
