Wasa launches disconnection campaign

HYDERABAD, May 7: The Water and Sanitation Agency (Wasa) has begun disconnection campaign for non-payment of bills.

The agency, according to announcement, disconnected water and sewerage connections in the city, Latifabad and Qasimabad talukas on Monday. The pace of recovery drive has been accelerated and teams led by director finance Wasa are visiting each and every house in the city. Consumers are advised to clear their dues or face action under the Land Revenue Act 1967.

The announcement further said that Mohammadi Plaza, Qazi Qayyum road, Al-Amna, Mughal, Al-Rahim and Alpine plazas, Rabia and Sakina squares, Sehar Centre and Barrage Colony would face action as directives to disconnect their water connection had been issued.

Plaza owners and consumers have been asked to ensure payment of their sewerage and water to avoid disconnection. Any attempt to re-connect the connections by defaulters will be considered an offence for which police action will follow.
