QUETTA, May 6: Baloch nationalist leader Sardar Ataullah Mengal has condemned arrests of political activists and innocent people in different parts of Balochistan and asked the human rights organisations to take notice of the situation.
He said on Sunday that security forces had arrested without any justification a large number of people during the ongoing operation in Splinji, Bolan and Mastung areas.
Sardar Mengal said that the rulers were pursuing a policy of crushing the Baloch people who were struggling for their legitimate rights. Under this policy, he added, the government had launched military operations in various areas of the province in which hundreds of people had been killed, injured and arrested.
"Even occupation forces do not treat their enemies in the manner adopted by law-enforcement forces in the province." However, Sardar Mengal said such treatments would not succeed in forcing the people to abandon their struggle.
He termed the arrests and military operations illegal and asked national and international organisations to take notice of the atrocities. He said that despite all the atrocities and ill-treatments, the people of Balochistan would not abandon their rights and would continue their legitimate struggle.
