SAHIWAL, May 6: Fourteen more ARD leaders, who were detained in Faisalabad under 3-MPO, were shifted to the central jail here on Sunday.

Reports said that Tahir Zaman, Shahzad Aslam, Zafar Iqbal, Muhammad Boota, Muhammad Shahid, Atif Adeel, Rehmat Ali, Muhammad Hafiz, Ghulam Muhammad and others would be detained for one month.

Earlier, 20 PPP leaders, including MPA Rana Aftab Ahmed, had already been shifted to Sahiwal from Faisalabad. They were also detained under 3-MPO for one month.

Meanwhile, police on Sunday released five leaders of religio-political parties. They were identified as JI’s Maulana Munawar Ali Khan, his son Sajid Mahmood, JUI-F’s Abdul Razzaq Mujahid, JUI-F district secretary-general Muhammad Latif Usmani and PPP city secretary-general Dr Azhar Kahloon.

Police had arrested them on May I to foil their attempt to reach Islamabad on the eve of hearing of the CJP case.
