LAYYAH, May 6: Police have failed to find any clue to the killing of two prayer leaders from the Shia sect who were shot dead on Saturday morning in Choubara town, 40km from here.

Police said that Nazar Abbas Fikri, former Kateeb of Choubara Imambargah, and Ghulam Rasool, a prayer leader from Bhurli area, were sleeping in the guesthouse of Nazar Hussain Baloch, former Choubara tehsil president of the outlawed Tehreek-i-Jafriya Pakistan, when three gunmen opened fire from a close range killing them on the spot. The shooting also left one Mazhar Abbas, who was also sleeping there, injured. He was admitted to the Choubara civil hospital.

In another identical attack on Saturday night, the son of Nazim Hussain Shah, former district president of the TJP, was fired upon by unknown gunman in Shahpur, 10 km from here. Kalbe Rasool, a student of third year, was present in front of his house at 10pm when he was hit.

He was taken to the Layyah district headquarters hospital where his condition is said to be stable.
