HYDERABAD, May 6: The All-Pakistan Soomra Association on Sunday said that the builders’ mafia, in collusion with the Hyderabad Development Authority, had occupied amenity plots for mosques, parks, hospitals and schools in their villages in Qasimabad taluka.

The association’s president Abdul Ghafoor Soomro and general secretary Dr Mohammad Qasim Soomro said at a news conference at the press club that they had held several demonstrations against the builders and HDA but no department concerned had taken any notice so far.

The builders, after illegally occupying the amenity plots, had pieces of plots to more than one persons, they said and added that the misfortunate allottees, too, had raised hue and cry but to no avail.

They alleged that the builders in connivance with HDA were violating a ban on the on the construction of plazas on both sides of Wadhu Wah road, which was a VIP road.

They said that Mohammad Soomro, Tahar Soomro and many villages had been the worst affected by the builders activities. Builders had not given possession to people even after they had made full payments for their houses or flats in many housing schemes.

According to agreements, the builders had to transfer possessions to the allottees within three to five years but many allottees had not been given possession even after seven to eight years, they said and added that the builders were now demanding more money.

They appealed to authorities to order an inquiry into the corrupt practices of builders’ mafia and HDA and protect allottees from their loot.
