Murree dual carriageway to be opened by December


ISLAMABAD, May 5: The Islamabad-Murree dual carriageway (IMDC) being built at a cost of Rs8 billion will be opened for traffic by the end of the current calendar year. This was stated by Chairman of the National Highway Authority (NHA) Major General Imtiaz Ahmad while briefing the National Assembly’s standing committee on communications led by its Chairman Brig (retired) Zulfikar Ahmad Dhilon which visited the under construction carriageway and inspected the progress work along different sections of the project.

Federal Minister for communications Muhammad Shamim Siddiqui and senior officials from the Ministry of Communications and NHA were also present on the occasion.

The Chairman NHA said the first phase of the project from Islamabad Convention Centre to Satra Meel had been completed and the carriageway from Satra Meel to Lower Topa in the second phase would be completed soon. The 43 kilometre road would pass through Phulgran, Manga and Lakot and finally touch Murree and Lower Topa.—Our Reporter
