LAHORE, May 5: Blazing knocks by Shahid Afridi, Shoaib Malik and Kamran Akmal against a second-string bowling attack helped Fazal Mahmood XI outplay Imtiaz Ahmed XI by 189 runs in the second and last limited-overs practice match at the Gaddafi Stadium here on Saturday.

Afridi struck a 59-ball 101 with seven sixes and nine fours while Shoaib Malik hit a 31-ball 60 with four sixes and as many boundaries and Kamran contributed a 31-ball 50 laced with one six and four fours as Fazal Mahmood XI piled up 371-8 in the allotted 50 overs.

In reply, Imtiaz Ahmed XI, consisting of players who recently toured Bangladesh with the Pakistan Academy team, never made a serious attempt to chase the target, only to close at 182-9 in 37 overs.

Afridi, Shoaib and Kamran batted against fast bowlers Najaf Shah, Abdul Rauf, Junaid Zia, slow left-armers Fawad Alam, Babar Naeem and Abdur Rehman and off-spinner Atif Maqbool. While Abdur Rehman bowled for both sides, Rauf and Atif were the only bowlers, who completed their quotas of 10 overs.

For Imtiaz Ahmed XI no batsman made any noteworthy contribution except for Shahid Yousuf who was the top scorer with 66 off 68 balls, hitting one six and eight fours.

The 15-member squad, likely to be announced by Monday for the three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka in Abu Dhabi, will again assemble in Lahore on May 10 for a short training camp till May 15.
