LAHORE, May 5: Khawaja M.Arif's colt, Zanjeer, has an edge over his rivals to win the feature event during the first day/night Lahore Summer Meeting at the Racecourse on Sunday.

The opening day Summer Meetings card comprises six events, one to be gone over 800m , three over 1100m and two over 1200m.

The feature event, the Lahore Plate, class IV division I, to be gone over 1200m has nine contestants barring last-minute withdrawals.

After winning three races in-a-row, Zanjeer was placed on the board thrice. On his last outing he was beaten by the filly, Nosheen, by 1 3/4 lengths on April 15 last.

He is well placed in the handicap to click and win the race. Although the connections have fielded, three pretenders, namely, Noor, Byron and Discovery to confuse the race-goers but they are no patch on Zanjeer, current form, speed and merit-wise.

Lovely Gate, Nosheen and Kiss Of Luck can fight for the less remunerative positions.

Bay colt Charismatic, who had gone through a very bad patch is now back on the track to once again show his charismatic speed exhibited earlier and win the fifth and supporting event to be contested over 1200 metres.

Owned by Parvaiz Masood, Charismatic is likely to be followed by the fillies, Desert Queen and Shim Jim.

Three-year-old bay filly, Honey Gal, looks good in the fourth race to be decided over 1100m. Of the nine runners, if there are no last-minute withdrawals.

Honey gal is the faster of all and will be going all out to make it two in-a-row. However, she has Volcano and Cobbler constant thorn in the way of her success.

There is strong possibility for bay filly Born To Win to triumph in the third race. The way she had registered a facile victory on April 29 last, there hardly seems any chance of her chance of being beaten by her seven rivals. Zoaq can put up any fight before bowing out.

The first race will be held at 5pm.

In the opener Mirana Choice, who was credited with a facile win during last appearance on the track, will be on the course again to complete a double this time. Janu, Royal Palace and Tosca can fight for places.
