Two drown

FAISALABAD, May 5: Two Christian boys drowned in Mullanpur Canal on Saturday.

Reports said Sajid Masih, 20, and Pervaiz Masih, 15, of Esa Nagar left their homes to enjoy canal bath. Both jumped into the canal and drowned. It is learnt that both the boys did not know how to swim.

AERIAL FIRING: Panic spread in the offices of irrigation department when two rival groups resorted to aerial firing over an election issue on Saturday.

Reports said arrangements had been finalised for the election of Nasrana Canal when groups of Zahid Ahmad and Hafiz Ataullah —both candidates for president’s slot — resorted to aerial firing, throwing the traffic out of gear.

A police party took Imran and Sher Ali into custody for resorting to aerial firing.
