KARACHI, April 4: Karachi’s five district boxing associations on Friday decided to request Pakistan Boxing Federation (PBF) president to hold free and fair Sindh Boxing Association (SBA) elections in May.
Apart from sending a request to PBF president Zafar Zuberi, the meeting attended by the officials from district South, East, West, Malir, and Central, also decided to ask secretary sports Government of Sindh, Ghulam Akbar Shah Bokhari to supervise the SBA elections for which dates is yet to be finalised.
The district associations’ officials supported Jameel Gul for the post of SBA president and Ali Akbar Shah as secretary. The officials also backed Abid Hussain Brohi for the office of senior vice-president and Asghar Baloch as associate secretary of SBA.
The district representatives authorised Akbar to form the executive body for the provincial association.
The officials condemned PBF chairman Anwar Chowdhry for what they call interference into district associations’ affairs by asking his “blue-eyed boys” including a typist, and masseur, to form parallel district bodies.
Officials said that SBA elections should have been held last year but PBF failed to hold the polls.
