MITHI, May 4: Sindh Chief Minister Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim has said that Rs12.445 million would be spent on the repair and lining of small canals in the Sindh province to check the wastage of water and ensure availability of water to the tail-end growers.

He was talking to different delegations at the residence of MNA Arbab Zakaullah near Naukot on Friday after reviewing public meeting arrangements of President General Pervez Musharraf.

He said that Naukot public meeting would be historic where people, through their massive participation, would approve the policies of the president.

He said that the president would lay foundation stone of different development projects, including Thar Cadet College, lining of Ran Canal, Naukot-Mithi road, extension of Naukot-Wingo road, cattle colony and water supply scheme from Diplo to Khet Lary. He said that after completion of these projects, Thar would witness a big change.

Provincial ministers Irfan Gul Magsi, Nadir Akmal Leghari, MPA Arbab Abdullah, Senator Abdul Ghaffar Qureshi, and a large number of government officers were also present on the occasion.

Earlier, the chief minister offered Friday prayers in Jamia Masjid of Naukot and announced Rs200,000 for installation of air conditioners in the mosque and also handed over Rs100,000 cash to its management for extension and repairs.

On this occasion, talking to journalists, the chief minister said that main problems of Naukot town, including upgradation of Naukot grid station, drainage system, removing rotation of Aakoto Shakh, lining of Aakoto Shakh and installation of filter plant would be solved.
