KARACHI, May 4: Gulshan-i-Iqbal Town Nazim Muhammad Wasay Jalil has directed anti-encroachment department officials to remove illegal structures over waterlines in Union Council No 10.
During his visit to the area on Friday, Wasay Jalil asked the officials to remove illegal markets and roadside stalls over the land of a sewerage treatment plant.
He also took serious notice of construction of houses over the land of cantonment board from Pehlwan Goth to Kamran Chowrangi. He said Katchi Abadis were being used as hideouts by criminals. That was the reason, he added, crime rate was rising in these areas.
Wasay Jalil asked the Town Municipal Officer Shafiqur Rehman and KWSB officials to contact the cantonment administration over the issue and chalk out the line of action in this regard.
The nazim also instructed DTO Parks for trimming trees and bushes around the waterlines as they were causing choking of waterlines, besides disturbing power cables.
Meanwhile, he inspected ongoing sewerage works around Kamran Chowrangi, Jauhar Chowrangi and Safari Park. He directed area SHO to keep vigil on emergence of illegal encroachments. The officials of concerned department were asked to speed up the pace of work.
KWSB Superintending Engineer Zahir Abbas, Town Officer Mobin Siddiqui and others accompanied the town nazim.
SITE TOWN: The SITE Town Municipal Administration on Friday removed illegal encroachments from service roads, cleaned streets and roads during the ongoing drive in Union Council No 6.
Town Nazim Izharuddin Ahmed Khan said municipal emergency declared in the town would continue until each and every street of the town was cleaned of encroachment. He said sanitation conditions in the town were not satisfactory, therefore, special cleanliness drive had been started there. At the same time campaign against illegal encroachments was also underway, he added.
Izharuddin said campaigns were launched in all union councils of the town according to a schedule. A big operation was conducted in Union Council No 6, which was supervised by TMO Imran Aslam and DTO Land Encroachment Abdul Wahid.
