By Our Correspondent

PARACHINAR, May 2: Rival groups in the Kurram Agency signed a peace agreement here on Wednesday, pledging to end hostilities, officials and tribal elders announced.

Political Agent Sahibzada Mohammad Anees said that curfew in Parachinar and adjoining areas would be lifted from Thursday night. He also said that roads had been opened while all educational institutions in the agency would be opened from Monday.

Officials said that three tribal parliamentarians, MNAs Munir Aurakzai, Dr Syed Javid Hussain, Senator Rashid Ahmad Khan, and ex-senator Sajjad Mian had brokered the peace deal.

MNA Munir Orakzai said at a press conference in Parachinar that 150 elders representing various tribes and clans had signed the agreement and rival groups had vowed to honour it.
