Two killed in separate incidents

By Our Staff Reporter

RAWALPINDI, May 2: Two persons were murdered in separate incidents in Rawalpindi on Wednesday, police said.

Shah Ali was shot dead by three armed men who entered his house in the jurisdiction of Saddar Bairooni area early Wednesday morning.

Mohammad Ramzan, the brother of the deceased, told the police that his brother was sleeping when three men entered his house and escaped after killing him.

Police said it did not seem to be a robbery case as nothing was taken away by the intruders. It appears to be planned murder but the family of the victim claims that they had no enmity with anyone.

In another incident, Mehboob Shah was stabbed to death in his house in Mohanpura. Police said Mehboob Shah, who had been residing in a rented house, was found stabbed to death.

Preliminary police investigation suggested that despite having been stabbed, Mehboob tried to overpower the attacker and ran after him but failed to catch him. The deceased was stabbed in the neck and chest.

Police said the body was handed over to the family after postmortem.

Meanwhile, three robbers snatched Rs300,000 from a man who was going home after withdrawing cash from a bank in the Airport police area on Wednesday, police said.

Farrukh Tanveer, the robbery victim, told Airport police that three robbers travelling in a car intercepted him and looted the money from him at gunpoint.

In another incident, Arshad Mehmood was robbed of his mobile phone and Rs1,500 by two robbers in R.A. Bazaar police area. Ghaffar Ahmed’s car (JE-577) was stolen from Saddar while Sajid Mehmood’s car (JT-756) was taken away by thieves from the Civil Lines area.
