LAHORE, May 1: Three-year-old filly, Aaja Bulbul, is being fancied to win the feature event during the midweek day/night Lahore Gymkhana races at the Racecourse on Wednesday.

In view of the scorching heat all the events will be held over the sprinting distance of 800m.

Aaja Bulbul, a progeny of Phool King out-of-Princess Ghazal, is contesting in the Jhelum Plate class V Div I. Placed very low in the handicap, she is speedy than her six rivals, barring last-minute withdrawals.

The colt Cobbler will be her top challenger. This will be the sixth and last race of the day.

The supporting and fifth event, class V div II has eight runners, if there are no last-minute withdrawals. Glancing over the past performance of all contestants, the colt Royal King looks a cut above in class vis-à-vis his rivals.

This colt from Key Guy out-of-Truly Belle, Royal King was beaten by Mythical last Wednesday. He should prove worth his name at least in the field he is contesting. Great Bulbul, Sharp Burg and Dam Dama Dam should fight for the frame. Royal King is our day's best proposition.

The bay gelding Sign Of Success looks good in the fourth race, Sahiwal Plate, class VII division I. He was beaten from Faryal in previous outing on April 4 and should make amends this time and win the race. Princess Afaq, Dream Land and Blu's Wendy may fight for the less remunerative positions.

Janu, First Passion and Tosca are the speedsters among the ten contestants drawn for the third race, Sahiwal Plate class VII division 1 and 11. They should fight it out in the same order.

Shah Pari, who was beaten in her previous run, now looks poised to make amends and pick up the spoils in the second race.

Love Minister looks a good thing in the opener with Mystic and Dogar Gift to be his challengers in the opener. Dogar Gift ran miserably last Wednesday. What happened to the mare is a big question mark? The first race will be held at 5pm.

The following are the fields and our selections.
