GUJAR KHAN, May 1: British High Commissioner Robert Brinkley has said that every religion preaches love and tolerance and is against hatred, extremism and terrorism.

Mr Brinkley stated this after inaugurating the Al-Mustafa Trust Medical Centre in Dhoke Syedan located some 18km south of Gujar Khan on Tuesday.

Both Pakistani and British people are working for the welfare and wellbeing of the mankind as they are committed to serving humanity, he noted. Elaborating the measures taken by the British government to accelerate economic growth in Pakistan, the envoy said British Prime Minister Tony Blair had doubled the amount of aid to Islamabad.

Al-Mustafa Trust Medical Centre Chairman Lt-Gen (retired) Ghulam Mohammad Malik said health and education held great importance and the western countries made progress only after they gave top priority to these two factors.

Pakistan Muslim League (UK) President and Community Welfare Adviser to Pakistani government Raja Mohammad Ishtiaq said Pakistani expatriates in Britain were focusing their attention to solve basic problems related to health and education in their motherland.

Gujar Khan Town Nazim Chaudary Mohammad Azeem said the government was committed to providing basic amenities to the residents. He assured the gathering that the construction of a link road and provision of clean water to the village would start very soon.

Al-Mustafa Trust Medical Centre was established by Syed Munawar Hussain Shah Gilani, who is a resident of the village and also a British national.
